MOJ – Electronic Project

About=============

Moj Elevator Pitch:
Moj is a duo music project including an acoustic drummer and pianist/keyboardist which creates cinematic, rhythmic electronic music synced with lights.

Moj Long Biography:
Moj is an electronic project by the Toronto composer and producer Pouya Hamidi and percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Adam Campbell. It is an exploration of Hamidi’s unique acoustic and electronic toolkit. The project moves through his knowledge and experience in film scoring, orchestral and operatic composition, sound recording, classical piano, traditional Persian music, “world” music, and electronic music. Synchronized lights accompany the duo’s live performance and make the experience visually and sonically integrated. Campbell recently joined the project, bringing his powerhouse acoustic kit drumming to the sounds. The music of Moj reflects the contemporary clash of organic with industrial.
Hamidi has a double degree in classical piano performance and composition from University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Sound Recording from McGill University. In parallel, the limitless musical possibilities of electronic music have also interested and influenced Hamidi’s music over the years. He was composer and keyboardist for the Toronto rock/electronic band Sacred Balance for 4 years. He’s also currently the pianist and composer of the acoustic quartet, Ladom Ensemble.
Campbell tours and performs across Canada, the United States, and Europe with the TorQ Percussion Quartet, one of Canada’s leading chamber ensembles. He is a member of the Evergreen Club Contemporary Gamelan, the Ken Shorley trio and the Persian/Serbian fusion group, Ladom Ensemble. As a freelance drummer and studio musician, Adam regularly performs and records throughout Toronto with folk, rock, pop, R&B and hip-hop artists of all types, plays in pits for musicals, and is the house drummer and a producer at Euphonic Sound recording studio.
