Today I publish the score Love, Fire, Breath for flute and classical guitar to the world!!
“The best advice I can give you is not to compose for classical guitar like composing for the piano” Adam Cicchillitti said! It was sound advice! The two instruments are so idiomatically different.
As a pianist I had to rethink and learn a whole new instrument, classical guitar, which I’ve admired for years but never written for. As a composer sometimes you need to put yourself in challenging situations in order grow as an artist. It is one of the most rewarding feelings afterwards.
Thanks so much to Lara Deutsch and Adam Cicchillitti for entrusting me with this commission. We spent multiple workshops talking about the instruments and the work itself and the piece was premiered at multiple locations on their U.K. tour back in the fall.
The composition is inspired by the idea that the music that we create really comes from the fire that generated from love. You can read and access the score here:
Lots of cheers,
