Program Notes
Raha was the first ever work written for Ladom Ensemble. It was an experimentation to see whether this unique set of instruments would work together. It was a success and it is most played Ladom work to date. It is inspired by Iranian traditional music within an eastern chamber music context. The second half becomes upbeat with rhythms inspired by Kurdish music. Then the climax of the work is when the two melodies from the beginning and middle section unit into an explosive end.
