Studio Performance Video of ‘Hilat’ – MOJ Electronic Project

Hey everyone!

I’m thrilled to share the studio performance video of the song Hilat which from the MOJ electronic project! This song is really special to me for a number of reasons, and I’m so excited to finally share the studio version with you.

Blending Acoustic and Electronic Sounds

One of the core ideas behind MOJ has always been to blend acoustic instruments with electronic ones. In Hilat, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the incredibly talented Iranian multi-instrumentalist Naghmeh Farahmand. Her mastery of Tombak and Daf added an entirely new dimension to the track, bringing a raw, expressive energy that truly elevated the song.

A Song Eight Years in the Making

Believe it or not, I originally wrote Hilat around eight years ago alongside my brother, Foad Hamidi. Having him as the featured singer on the track means the world to me, and his vocals add a personal and emotional touch that completes the song. This project has been a long time coming, and I’m incredibly grateful to see it come to life like this!

Inspired by the poem by Rumi, Hilat which translates roughly to “doubt” is about letting go of hesitation and doubt and just going with your heart and step into the heart of the fire like a moth drawn into the light. The song starts in a depressing mood and without much hope resembling the doubt and anxiety we sometimes feel in life and then it transforms into a hopeful ending coming to an explosive end like a moth madly going into the light.
